Mission
The Advisory Panel for Research and Scholarship will provide input and advice to the Senior Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship (SADRS) and, through the SADRS, to other leadership at the school. Its agendas will focus broadly on the current and future resources of the school to support research and scholarship for students and faculty. Issues considered will include the support of students in their scholarly work, including, but not limited to, the required scholarly project. Consistent with the varied methods and topics of scholarly activity at the school, the group will be asked to consider quantitative and qualitative research, and other forms of scholarship. Three particular focus areas in which the school will seek to develop capacity include: equity in health and health care (including community-based research), research embedded in health systems (including implementation science), and medical education research.”

Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM) is a interest group that examines and discusses how the rapidly advancing field of AI collides with medicine and medical education. We aim (pun intended) to advocate for the ethical, safe, and equitable application of AI in medicine and medical education. We will work with the KPSOM community to discuss and create resources that educate on artificial intelligence and how best to apply AI to studies and practice of medicine.

We intend to provide the KPSOM community with information about local athletic activities as well as the equipment and resources necessary to participate in those activities. We also plan to host 2-4 events per academic year centered around athletics that will be open to the entire KPSOM community. Finally, we will reserve a portion of our budget for students to apply to fund their own athletic initiatives at KPSOM.

CIA is part of the School’s administrative structure and a standing administrative committee charged with developing strategies, policies, and deliverables that supports the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine’s (KPSOM’s) data, information, and decision-making needs. It advises and informs the Dean, members of the Dean’s Cabinet, faculty, staff, and the Board of Directors on a variety of issues related to the KPSOM community’s data and analytics infrastructure (e.g., models of analytics systems and platforms, data governance, data use, reporting). The committee is meant to be forward looking by identifying and proposing priorities through the examination and evaluation of related services and infrastructure that affect the school’s mission to deliver on the promises of world-class teaching, service, and scholarship.

The Inclusive Excellence Committee of the Student Council is an organization committed to providing opportunities for student engagement and leadership development around EID at KPSOM.
